The PADI Divemaster course is the first step in obtaining a professional qualification in diving. The course elaborates on water skills and helps you develop problem solving skills – skills that you were introduced to in the PADI Rescue Diver course. Expanded areas of training include
• Accident management & prevention
• Assisting instructors with student divers
• Looking out for and assisting certified divers and
• Doing the logistics in dive operations
Here it is more than learning how to dive, it is shaping attitudes to safe diving practises, protecting the aquatic environment and ensuring divers have fun.
You will learn among other aspects
• The theory of diving which involves physics & physiology
• How to interact and treat the environment
You will be taught and tested on
• In-water skills
• Stamina
• How you react to students and certified divers in various situations
It is clear that this course is develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities as well as assist instructors with student divers.
Although this course is demanding both physically and mentally, it is one of the most rewarding diving courses available. Certification as a PADI Divemaster not only enhances your knowledge and skills as a professional diver but gives you the option of exploring the possibility of employment in the dive industry.
What PADI Divemasters do?
• Work at dive centres, live-aboard dive boats, yachts or exotic resort locations.
• Assist PADI Instructors with students.
• Lead certified scuba divers on guided dive tours.
• Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers.
• Teach PADI Discover Snorkelling programmes.
• Conduct PADI Scuba Review programmes for certified divers.
• Lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences.
What do I need to start?
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent qualifying certification.
• PADI Rescue Diver certification or equivalent qualifying certification.
• Medical clearance signed by a physician.
• 40 logged open water dives.
• 18 years old and above.
